01-02 ‘STUDIO’ nominated for Edison Pop Award
We’re really proud to announce that Benny Sings fifth studio album called ‘ STUDIO’ is nominated for an Edison Pop Award in the category ‘alternative’. March 21st the winner of the Edison Award will be presented in The Amsterdam Harbour Club.
Tiny Desk Concert
Recently, Benny was invited for a session at the NPR’s famous Tiny Desk Concert series in Washington, together with NYC-based Jennah Bell as his background vocalist. He is the first Dutch artist ever that was asked to do a performance and follows in the footsteps of Adele, John Legend, Alt-J and many others.

‘STUDIO’ is now available digitally via iTunes, Spotify, Deezer (incl. track by track commentary) and physically (cd & vinyl), worldwide. Order ‘STUDIO’ now on Bandcamp.
For this album the singer/producer teamed up with established names in the industry such as Mayer Hawthorne and GoldLink.
Even though Benny Sings might not have released a lot of solo work in the past few years, he was busier than ever. Recently he scored a YouTube hit with millions of views, collaborating with the French electro artist DatA. Benny also produced music for several other artists, such as Faberyayo (De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig) and the critically acclaimed singer BEA1991.
‘STUDIO’ is an ode to his working space, which he built 4 years ago in the center of Amsterdam. This inspiring place gave Benny Sings an open mind towards much of his new music and eventually his own new album. The first single ‘Straight Lines’ came out last July.
His co-operations with blue-eyed soul singer Mayer Hawthorne on the track ‘Shoebox Money’ and Rick Rubin’s protégée rapper GoldLink on the track ‘You and Me’ are striking. The mixes of the recordings were in hands of The Stepkids (Stones Throw).
The warm sound, which Benny is known for, is prominent on the album ‘STUDIO’. The recordings are full of color, beats and melancholy, but the songs seem to go much deeper than we are accustomed to from Benny.
Benny about ‘STUDIO’: “Really excited about this one. I was able to have fun again making this album, and I think you can hear that.”
